Body insulation: Low temperatures in winter can easily cause excessive cooling of the generator set during operation. Therefore, insulation is the key to using generator sets in winter. Especially in northern regions, generator sets used in winter should be equipped with insulation sleeves and curtains to prevent cold.
Fuel selection: The low temperature in winter reduces the fluidity and viscosity of diesel, making it difficult to spray and resulting in poor atomization, leading to a decrease in the power and economic performance of the generator set. Therefore, light diesel with low pour point and good ignition performance should be selected in winter.
Antifreeze usage: When the generator set is used in a low-temperature environment, antifreeze must be added. The selection of antifreeze should have a freezing point 10 ℃ lower than the local minimum temperature.
Regularly check the concentration of antifreeze and prohibit the use of untreated water as engine coolant.
Lubricating oil replacement: In winter, the viscosity of lubricating oil will increase, which can easily lead to insufficient lubrication inside the generator. Therefore, the lubrication system of the generator should be regularly inspected and the lubricating oil should be replaced or grease added according to the manufacturer's recommendations. When selecting engine oil for winter diesel generators, it is advisable to choose engine oil with a slightly thinner viscosity.
Filter replacement: In winter, the air is dry and dusty, so air and diesel filters need to be replaced more frequently, otherwise it will affect the purity and combustion of the oil, and may even enter worn equipment.
Preheating start-up: Before starting the diesel generator set, it should be run at low speed for 3 to 5 minutes to raise the overall temperature before inspection. Only when everything is normal can it be used normally. At the same time, sudden speed increase operations should be reduced during operation, otherwise it will affect the service life of the valve components.
Regular inspection: Regularly inspect the engine, control panel, cooling system, and fuel system of the unit to eliminate issues such as abnormal noise, vibration, oil leakage, or wire wear. In addition, the generator should be regularly cleaned to avoid equipment damage.
Through the above maintenance measures, the service life of portable generators in winter can be effectively extended and their normal operation can be ensured.
